First off let's address the fact that the story indeed went off the rails at this point in the manga and that Yuha Baja Blast's powers were overkill and ridiculous in the context of this series and in the manga there was no logical way that Ywhachsahwh would have been defeated. There's a lot of fair criticisms to be had, but with that being said I'm seeing a lot of just absolute flat out haters and revisionist history in recent reviews that are trying to lambast people for not having reading or watching comprehension while being utterly incoherent themselves and trying to claim that Bleach was never all that in the first place.
To be fair, I think there's a few indisputable lows to this cour (aside from the story which all I can really say at this point is either you don't fw it or you tolerate it and let's just leave it at that), with the first being the inconsistent animation quality especially in the first few episodes. I think for how hyped this finale to the entire series was this was slightly disappointing in how vast and obvious the gaps in animation quality were, between static mouth flapping animation for Toshiro juxtaposed with Blood Chain Ichigo, it would have been nice for the floor to have been a little higher.
The second low was the music department, throughout the entire TYBW the remixes of the original themes just never have hit the same for me, and I'm a little sad they didn't bust out Stand Up, Be Strong for the final charge on Ywhwack.
Third, yeah we can't really gloss over the fact that a lot of the battles just devolve into "Nuh-uh". Even when Aizen was the final boss this was happening just on a slightly less ridiculous scale, but when compared to even some of the tomfoolery in that it's really hard to get past this, and they didn't fix that in the re-envisioning.
However, despite this, I think it would be insincere to say that this was not a large improvement over the final sequence of events in the manga, and for that I am grateful that this exists. Are there still things that I wish Kubo had fleshed out (like seriously what does Ichigo's True Bankai do? How can we still not know the answer 10 years later??), yes definitely and I think that there was a missed opportunity to fix the story and plot more. But at the same time, even if people are trying to dismiss it simply as hype moments with no story consequences (nowadays spectacle is sorely under-appreciated in faux high minded critiques), episodes 5 and 9 were some of the most breathtaking sequences in the entire series and ultimately I think that it felt like they sent off the original material of an iconic series as best they could within the confines of the source material.
If you were disappointed in TYBW, that's valid, when I read the manga originally I would say that I was also very disappointed on the whole, but I think it's disingenuous to try and spit on this series just because it's hip to call out #badwriting. Y'all too late the party, Bleach fans been ripping the writing of this part of the story for damn near 10 years now.
I think the real question is how long will it be before Chad is investigated for doping in his boxing matches because like Ichigo once said, "I can't imagine Chad losing (against regular mfs)".
